How to Start a MedTech Company in Medical School

Are you interested in health technology innovation? Want to leverage your medical knowledge to build creative solutions that make real impact? Join us for this event specifically made for medical students who are interested in creating their own medical technology startup at some point in their lives.

The talk is led by Kashif Khan, who entered McGill medicine from his PhD in Experimental Surgery. During his PhD, Kashif co-founded a startup called PLAKK, which is building an artificial intelligence-based platform to better predict the likelihood of heart attacks and strokes. Since then, he’s created a team of clinician-scientists, cardiovascular researchers, and AI engineers, and has raised over $400,000 in non-dilutive funding.

The talk will focus on giving tangible solutions to students who are interested in starting their own business during medical school. Topics will include:
– Clinical needs identification
– Finding the right team
– What makes a good innovation
– Getting funded
– The Montreal entrepreneurial ecosystem
